- I've had an internal Sportster since December 94 with a similar
- problem. Turn it (and the computer) on and it will connect with no
- problems. Between 5 and 15 minutes later, it drops the connection and
- won't successfully negotiate from then on. If I turn power off and
- on, it connects and works very well. It seems to need a power off/on
- cycle after it warms up. In the winter I had to add insulation on the
- circuit board side or it wouldn't get warm enough to start working
- correctly. In the summer, as long as the temperature is warm, it
- works correctly without a problem. There have been about 10 other
- Sportster owners that have posted the same problem.
-
- I just turn the computer on about 20 minutes before I need to use the
- modem, and turn it off and on before I start. I'll return it under
- warranty later this year. I've been waiting until all the ROM
- problems have settled down. I have the 04/95 ROM (no effect on the
- warmup problem).
